Alpine Skiing in the Adirondacks

Alpine Skiing in the Adirondacks

Let’s start by getting the winter cliches out of the way — yes, the Adirondacks is a winter wonderland and you’ll find plenty to cozy up to here, but you’ll also find all of the snow-covered excitement you can handle! This is mountain country, so a lot of visitors bundle up and hit the slopes. The only tough part is picking the right mountain. The greatest vertical drop in the East awaits at Whiteface Mountain, families flock to Titus Mountain in Malone, Mount Pisgah in Saranac Lake, Big Tupper in Tupper Lake, and Oak Mountain in Speculator, while visitors to Gore Mountain love the variety there. Snowmobilers crisscross all of our regions along hundreds of miles of trails, and our communities welcome them with open arms and warm food. Ice fishing is big everywhere, but there’s nothing quite like being surrounded by snow draped peaks on Lake Champlain. The Schroon Lake Region has its own special quality, with plenty of options for backcountry pursuits that end with the comforts of town. Wherever you go, you’ll find a varied selection of trails to cross-country ski, ponds to ice fish, mountains to snowshoe, and routes for snowmobiling, all snaking between great food, wonderful events, and lodging that’s worth writing home about.
