The Ausable River connects our communities, and in the spring we are treated with world-class fly fishing, wonderful waterfalls, and blooming wildflowers along hiking trails. Bring your road bikes for scenic loops along beside our rivers, or your mountain bikes to experience why the Whiteface Region is the beating heart of Adirondack mountain biking. Summer is prime time for hiking, with everything from easy pond loops to summits that'll give you a good challenge.

The Whiteface Region is stunning in the fall, with our mountain valley towns amidst all the changing colors. Check out events like Oktoberfest at Whiteface Mountain, Festival of Colors in Wilmington, and enjoy colorful town parks in Au Sable Forks and Jay. The combination of dry trails and bright leaves makes it the best time of year to go mountain biking at places like Quaker Mountain and Hardy Road. To get a bird's-eye view of the foliage change, head up the Whiteface Veterans' Memorial Highway to the summit of the fifth highest mountain in the state. 

Winter is where the Whiteface Region shines, especially on the slopes of our namesake ski mountain. Come to ski or ride on Whiteface Mountain, and enjoy the après amenities, like dining near the slopes or a cozy vacation rental tucked away in the snowy mountains. Frozen waterfall walks at High Falls Gorge, powdery snowshoeing adventures on quiet trails, and trips with the family to Santa's Workshop make winter trip planning here easy.

There's no doubt about it: Whiteface Mountain is a Northeast icon. With the combination of tons of vertical and family-friendly amenities/runs, it's one of the best ski resorts in the country for beginners and experts alike. In the non-winter months, Whiteface transforms into a playground with gondola rides, scenic drives, fun events, and world-class mountain biking championships. 

The famous Ausable River ribbons its way through our entire region, connecting each of our communities together. This river is renowned for its fly fishing opportunities, and is also central to many of this area's swimming holes, hiking trails, and town parks. A visit to the Whiteface Region always involves the Ausable River, whether you're waist deep in water or taking in the views from a bridge crossing.

The Whiteface Region is widely regarded as the mountain biking capital of the Adirondacks, offering diverse terrain for every type of rider. The area boasts multiple premier networks built by BETA, including the flowy Flume Trails and the challenging, popular Hardy Road (Beaver Brook) Trails. For those seeking a gravity-fueled thrill, the Poor Man's Downhill shuttle run provides a rugged, 1,200-foot descent from Whiteface Mountain. Whiteface Mountain is also host to a UCI Downhill World Cup event.

The Jay Covered Bridge is a true Adirondack landmark, serving as the sole remaining wooden Howe truss covered bridge in the Park since its construction in 1857. This beautifully restored, 175-foot structure spans the East Branch Ausable River, offering a perfect spot for photos and history. Part of Douglas Memorial Park, the site features picnic areas and excellent views of the river, where visitors can enjoy swimming and relaxation.

The Whiteface Veterans' Memorial Highway is a historic and accessible scenic drive that takes you nearly to the 4,867-foot summit of New York’s fifth-highest peak. Once at the top, you can choose to hike the short, steep trail for truly spectacular 360-degree panoramic views, or take the elevator carved deep inside the mountain, which is fully accessible. Don't miss stopping at the summit for a meal from the grill or grabbing a souvenir at the Castle Gift Shop.
