The Northville-Placid Trail (NPT) is a 138-mile long-distance trail through the heart of the Adirondack Park. Connecting communities and diverse landscapes, the trail is popular with hikers looking for a day trip, as well as those who section or thru-hike the entire trail.

The northern section of the NPT is remote, with day hikes being few and far between. After leaving Lake Placid, the trail cuts through some of the most remote portions of the High Peaks Wilderness Area, and links up with Long Lake.
