Welcome to the Adirondacks!
We are glad to have you here in our beautiful home, and we’re certain you’ll enjoy your stay! While you’re here, you are part of our community. Our goal is to make you feel safe and welcome so you can focus on enjoying all the wonderful things there are to do and see.
As part of our community, however long you stay, we hope you’ll join us in following a few golden rules that help preserve the beauty of our Adirondack environment and the unique character of our towns and villages.
How to visit like a local…
- Care for our community and environment. Did you know the Adirondack Park is the largest protected region in the contiguous United States? It’s larger than Yellowstone, Yosemite, Grand Canyon, and Glacier National Parks combined! From our forests to our streets, help this region stay beautiful by keeping our communities clean. Whether you’re in town or on the trail, dispose of garbage in designated trash cans and use public bathrooms. To help wildlife stay wild, don’t feed or approach animals. Visit LoveYourADK.org to learn more and take the pledge.
- Treat neighbors with kindness. Treat others how you wish to be treated—it’s the golden rule! From wait staff and trail stewards to locals and fellow visitors, approach every interaction with patience and understanding. Whether you’re staying in a hotel or a vacation rental, we’re all neighbors here. Be as good a neighbor in our community as you are at home. Respect private property, minimize noise disruptions, park politely, and (most importantly) be kind.
- Explore off the beaten path. Our region has so much to offer. While we hope you’ll stick to designated trails, take time to discover new destinations and attractions. If you’re not sure where to start, ask a local outdoor guide or stop by the Visitor’s Bureau and chat with our friendly staff.
- Support local businesses. We may have a lot to offer, but we are a small community, and our small business owners appreciate your support! From restaurants to boutique shops and family-friendly attractions, discover hidden gems in town and beyond. Our authentic mountain towns are a big draw, and for good reason. However, while our wilderness is vast, our residential areas can get a little packed. Please park respectfully, be mindful of other pedestrians when walking and driving, and spread out in shops so everyone can browse comfortably.
Thank you for being part of our Adirondack community. We hope you enjoy your stay and come back to see us very soon.
